Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals
REACH is a new EU regulation that requires manufacturers and importers to register any chemical substance brought into the EU in quantities exceeding 1 MT per year. REACH entered force on 1 June 2007 and is based upon the principle of one substance, one registration. All companies that import metals and metal compounds into the EU are required to register with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The registration deadline is determined by the quantity of the imported substance.
Deadlines for REACH Registration
|Quantity Imported (MT)||Deadline for Registration|
|1-100||1st June 2018|
|100-1000||1st June 2013|
|>1000||1st December 2010|
SFP Metals is committed to being fully compliant with REACH and working closely with suppliers and customers to this end. SFP has collected and submitted the data for all the substances it imports into the EU and is now fully REACH registered.
The Cobalt Development Institute (CDI) has established three consortia to prepare the data for the cobalt industry. For further information on the various CDI cobalt consortia please visit the CDI REACH website: http://www.cobaltreachconsortium.org/
